This project applies the U-Pb dating of detrital zircons from heavy mineral separates of (meta) sedimentary rocks to investigate sediment provenance, i.e.- which rock units contribute to the sediment composition. By analyzing the ages of zircon detritus, we can correlate them with known potential source areas.
